2015 was an incredibly difficult year for my entire family. We experienced two serious illnesses that came as a huge shock and took their toll in a number of different ways. Thankfully both members are managing to overcome their illnesses and for this I/we will be forever grateful.
After experiencing so many ups and downs in one year it's safe to say I felt exhauseted, worn out, lethargic...lost. I was craving that two week Christmas holiday, I needed to stand still, relax, think about nothing and I am not ashamed to admit that for two weeks I have slept, watched films, slept, ate lots of food, relaxed with family, slept...it has been delightful. Just what the doctor ordered. Having time to reflect with my partner, without the stress of work hanging over us has been lovely.
Now I know thing's are not going to magically slot into place over night but I do have a lot hope and a little bit of excitement for 2016. If anything I have realised that life is too short to put yourself in situations you don't want to be in, to not go after the things you want and to waste time doing things you don't want to do. Something my partner made me see is that there is always a way.
This year's 'resolutions' are simple, productive and positive...everything that I hope 2016 will be:
- Health - Last year my fitness and diet improved ten fold however as soon as the first leaves of autumn fell I was more than happy to give up my new found healthiness and resort to my old faithful 'it's winter, it's Christmas' I don't need to eat well and exercise. This year I am determined to make fitness and healthy eating a part of my lifestyle not just something I do in the run up to my Summer holiday.
- Mind - Do you ever feel as though your brain is getting lazy? I have always been someone who needs a challenge, I thrive off a challenge. Lately I feel as though I don't have this and in turn I have become a little lazy myself. I want to take a creative writing course and a cake decorating course. I also want to read at least one book a month.
- House - Myself and Dan have finally found a house, it is the perfect house and I cannot wait to renovate and move in. We are hoping for this to be by Easter! Stay tuned I'm sure I will be documenting the whole process on here and if you have any renovation/home style blog posts be sure to link them below!
- Life - Don't be afraid of changes, realign what I enjoy doing and find a way to make it work.
